Artist Statement

My first painted furniture (1992-1994) was in the form of furniture accessories called "silent servers"; a traditional American folk-art form in the late 19th, early 20th century that I designed in a more contemporary way. These were designed, cut from wood, painted, a base and tray added to make them functional. Our company hired local artisans to reproduce my designs, creating a small production line. These were sold primarily in the U.S. and the Caribbean.

My involvement with the Silent Servers ended by 1995 . I still do painted furniture on order.
